BMS World Mission is a Christian Charity that works in 30 countries all across the world. They support displaced people and poor communities with medicine, food, skills training and resourcing. They do all of this as committed Christians who communicate God’s desire to bless people with abundant life through their actions and their words.

Dear Judith,
It's John Settatree here, BMS World Mission's Church Engagement Manager. I've been in my role for around a year now, which means I have first-hand experience of the difference Horndean Baptist Church has made through your faithful giving. We really treasure every penny of the £2,720.00 you gave in 2024, as well as your prayers. It's been amazing to witness lives transformed because of you: believers sharing the gospel in Bangladesh, refugees welcomed in Lebanon and mothers delivering babies safely in Chad, just to name a few examples! 
You'll know from reading the news that our global economy is feeling a bit battered and bruised. That's why there's never been a better time for me to say thank you for supporting BMS. I know from speaking to the breadth of churches supporting BMS that you're pulled in lots of different directions. And yet, when you choose together to give, you breathe incredible work into life. In a busy world, thank you for continuing to stand up for the world's poorest people, those who long to hear the good news of Jesus, and those forced to flee their homes. Thank you for standing up for world mission.
There's one story in particular that has really encouraged me from the start of this year, and I wondered if it would be an encouragement to your church family to know that your generosity touches real lives like Charles'.

"I was always uncertain about the future," Charles says, talking about raising his family in Uganda. "This caused me to live in fear," he continues, "and I could not take any step of faith in changing the status quo."

I'm sure you can imagine the undercurrent of fear Charles lived with: will there be enough food on the table today? Will it be nourishing enough to starve off malnutrition and expensive doctor's bills, or will one of the children fall ill? Charles felt completely stuck. "We never had enough at home," he explains. "I felt a sense of helplessness."

Amazingly, your generous giving has enabled Charles to access special training that mobilises churches to help those around them. The training helped Charles to see himself as a person made in God's image, with God-given resources to help his family. In short, it completely changed his perspective – much better than any temporary hand-out. Charles talks about the training affecting every area of his life. And wonderfully, he's just one of the many, many people you've helped this year all around the world.
