Living Lightly

One of the traits that we want to define us as a church is that of Living Lightly. What does this mean for a church? For us, Living Lightly means that we care about our impact on God’s creation and so do our best to limit our use of resources. But it also has another meaning.
Living Lightly means that we don’t try and do every good idea that we can think of, but try to do what we believe God has asked us to do at this point in time. In short, we try and do a few things well. To be able to do this we have to make sure that we are listening to God in prayer, but also that we are aware of our limitations. This means that we hopefully avoid burning ourselves out and that we embody the principle of rest that flows through the Bible’s pages, which is often contrary to the pace of the modern world. This also means that we make sure we aren't spending all of our time in church, but are making sure we take time to share the message of Jesus beyond our church through our words and actions in our work and leisure time.
